August 14: Virtually Yours with Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu

I continue “Virtually Yours” my partnership with Goethe Namibia, a series of online discussions with contemporary authors from Africa. “Virtually Yours” aims to create an online platform for avid readers, writers, academics, publishers, agents, and anyone else interested in literature by writers from Africa. The series of online discussions held once a month from October has featured Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Niq Mhlongo, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, Tendai Huchu, Natasha Omokhodion-Kalulu Banda, Ondjaki, and Ishmael Beah.

Featuring in this Virtual Gathering is award-winning Zimbabwean author, writer and filmmaker Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu. She was shortlisted for the University of Johannesburg Prizes for South African Writing in English in the Debut Prize category shortlisted for The Sunday Times/CNA Fiction Prize for her first novel The Theory of Flight.

Her latest novel, The History of Man, traces the history of Emile from a privileged boarding school to falling in love and the dire consequences of his heart. The story is set in a Southern African country and peeks into the mind of the colonizer.

Participation in these Virtually Yours Virtual Gatherings is free to anyone around the world.
